JACKSON, Miss. -- Jackson's police chief said her officer was in a fight for his life when a suspect was shot and killed during a struggle over the weekend. An autopsy showed 28-year-old Roy Bradley suffered four gunshot wounds during the altercation Sunday evening. Chief Shirlene Anderson said Bradley grabbed the officer's gun and wrestled him to the ground during a traffic stop on Commerce Park Drive. He was being taken into custody on four outstanding misdemeanor warrants. According to Anderson, the fight happened after the officer uncuffed one of Bradley's hands to sign paperwork. His death came a year to the day after he was released from prison, where he served time for house burglary. "All that's irrelevant to the case. All we want to know is why he got shot four times -- that's all we want to know. Everything else? We don't want to hear about it. They can tell it to a lawyer," Bradley's sister, April, said during an interview Tuesday. The family wouldn't talk Wednesday because they've hired attorney Precious Martin, who said a statement would be released Friday. The officer was treated at a hospital for two bites from Bradley, Anderson said. The officer's name isn't being released because Anderson said it would endanger his life. Results of the internal investigation of the shooting will be turned over to the Hinds County district attorney.
