Congrats to all from 79RTT. Your probation period is over.

Posted by: snapbox

Have fun with the hand-me-down cruisers and the "we'll make you commute 2 hours to western mass" =P

Congrats!

Time to pour on the salt.

Posted by: mechanixman

I heard most of the salty troopers from the 79th RTT are working at A-6.

Posted by: MSP75

The last couple of classes don't even know western Mass exist.

what does salty mean?

Posted by: JLT770

upset, disgruntled, something along those lines. i had never heard it until June when i started working here where everyone is salty at least once a week

Posted by: Mikey682

wrong.

It means 'cocky, arrogant', acting like you've been on the job for 20 years and know everything...It's not a good title to have...especially if you've been on for just over a year. Out here in WMass too much sodium is addressed in a variety of ways, which we won't get into here.

An "old salt" originally referred to an experienced sailor. Over the years it has evolved to mean an experienced person who exhibits a gruff, weathered demeanor.

I have heard people in police work refer to "old salts" as people with enough time on the job to have salt stains on their hats and uniforms from sweat. Others refer to "old salts" as bitter and disgruntled...it all depends who you are talking to.

I like Big Irish's new picture. What's that all about? Has he lost his mind? I thought he was an Irish cop, not a bankrobber from Charlestown.

"The last couple of classes don't even know western Mass exist"

....yeah, you are right. We all got our home barracks, every single one of us.

What's the difference between an RTT and an MPOC class?

Posted by: Dane

Academy rack vs. the comfort of your own home, among other things.

RTT means IF you make it you work for the state and have state wide jurisdiction.

Posted by: mechanixman

My friend says that's not entirely true. The sheriffs and NEMLEC have statewide jurisdiction too. I heard the state police is only allowed to patrol the highway.

Posted by: misconceived

Here we go.....

Can someone please give this kid back his Lucky Charms, for Christ's sake?

you're running your mouth about troopers from the 79th being salty, and telling a highly regarded trooper to "go make some more OUI arrests" In my own opinion thats a sore spot for some people. Don't forget those "salty" troopers from the 79th will always be your senior if you ever get on the job. Gob help you

Ban the troll.

Posted by: JLT770

for added humor check out this private message i got from him on 9/15

Hey have you heard of any openings in other states. If so do you want to car pool out there. I heard the CT state police were conducting interviews and so was RI state police. Its not far but we could prep each other for the interview on the ride down. Plus it would be supportive. Plus all my friends from Somerville and Charlestown are not interested in police work and are either dead or in jail.

To be clear, I am a Local Cop, e.g. Grunt.

Sheriffs primarily move badguys from prison to prison (generally within thier own Counties), or guard them within the prison walls.

NEMLEC of which my dept. is a member is the Northeast Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council. The RRT and SWAT can be deployed within the member communities or elsewhere with a mutual aid request.

Grammatically the last part of your post is awful. The State Police can roll anywhere in the State. They do not have to stay on the highway. Although I think some local cops would prefer they do. (i'm not one of them)

Lastly, why do you post here? Damn near all of your posts are forum vomit. You don't add anything to a post and you ask stupid questions. Just give up.

Ban +1 please!

Sounds like a guy I knew once... he works "security" for some of the commercial properties down on the cape. Tells everyone the next civil service exam is "his year", despite the fact that he's 36 and has an A/B on his record... he even drives a Grand Marquis with a blue line on the rear window and calls it "his cruiser".

God help us all.

+1 on the ban

You're the biggest assclown since djgj200.

We would call that person a SQUIRREL down here. Snapbox, your guy sounds like a police impersonator, I wouldn't be surprised if he has made some traffic stops in "his cruiser".

I think "whacker" suits him a bit better... Who else would drive through intersections making the phaser tone with his mouth?

Posted by: mechanixman

To all the senior troopers in the 79th I didn't mean any disrespect. And to all the local police officers, I didn't know that NEMLEC was such a sore spot until I came back from vacation. I just want to be a cop so bad. My grandfather was a Met cop down on the beach a long time ago and he said I'd never amount to anything. I want to prove him wrong. Thanks for all your support (both positive and negative). I welcome it all. What does my IP address have to do anything. I live at home with my mother. I don't want her to get in trouble and lose her SSI. [-o<

someone should notify Dateline.

Dude, I wear my heart on my sleeve as my patch. That's how I roll. I have another question: Someone told me when your cop you have to wear a bulletproof vest ALL the time. So I'm wearing one under my civilian clothes to get used to it. Is that a crime? To wear one and not be a cop? Thank you for the information.

Ya heaven forbid you people stop sucking on the teets of society. Continue taking half my paycheck so you can keep chugging Buds and smoking weed, don't worry I'll just work more to feed and cloth my family along with yours...

If your mother is truely disabled (I don't consider being a drunk/junky/bipolar/depressed or stressed disabled unlike the state) then get a job and support her.. Oh and get rid of cable and your computer since those are luxuries you shouldn't really want to waste your SSI on.. Unless of course your mom is earning unreported earnings that would normally make her unqualified for SSI?

Posted by: mechanixman

This is your last warning !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow thats a hurter, Do you feel more like a man when your picking on me. Are the people at your job ripping on you and you need to take it out on a smaller guy. I'll be your huckly berry. Does every one tell you how special you are. Do you want me to do the same.

Man, this train went off the tracks.

Congratulations to the 79th! If we don't get another class going soon, you might beat the 69th for the longest time as boots.

There, back on topic.

Hey buddy-
If you are "banned" (whatever that really MEANS).

1) If you wear a bulletproof vest in public, you must wear a hockey helmet or maybe one of those old time leather football helmets that tie under your chin.
Think hansen brothers in slapshot, walmart has the VHS for a buck.

2)People have ripped you on this board because you made yourself an easy target, make that bullseye smaller by being more mature.

3) do not really take my advise of wearing the vest/ helmet

I do find it a bit comical that he was "banned".
