A man suspected of a brutal rape in Ohio was arrested Monday in Louisville.
An off-duty Metro Police lieutenant working a security shift arrested Scott McGeary, 48, early Monday morning at a gas station on Taylor Boulevard.
The officer said McGeary tried to pass counterfeit cash.
When investigators ran the plates on his van, they discovered robbery detectives were looking for it because it was used to hold up a downtown Taco Bell an hour earlier.
Soon, investigators learned Ohio police were searching for McGeary in connection with the Sunday afternoon rape.
Police in Ross County, Ohio said McGeary tied up a 20-year-old woman and raped her in front of her 2-month-old daughter.
Then, they claimed he stole the woman's van and headed south, stopping in Louisville to commit more crime.
McGeary is expected in court in Louisville Tuesday to face charges of robbery and criminal possession of a forged instrument.
