1-Year-Old Boy Threatened With Gun During Family Robbery
Police in Orange County, Fla., are investigating the robbery of a family by two men Monday night who also pointed a gun at the couple's 1-year-old and tried to steal a gold bracelet off his wrist.
Blanca Tejada said the men surprised her family at their Royal Spring apartment complex located on South Orange Blossom Trail at Rio Grande and Holden Avenue Monday.
Tejada showed marks on her 1-year-old son's arm where the men grabbed his wrist in an attempt to steal his bracelet at gunpoint "He tried (to take the bracelet)," Tejada said. "I pushed the hand and said leave my baby alone."
The child's father, David, said when his son started screaming, the men fled on foot.
"This (robbery) is very surprising." Tejada said. "This is not at night but in the day at 6:45 p.m."
The men escaped with a chain and cash from the couple.
"They're getting more desperate," Orange County sheriff's Deputy Jeff Williamson said. "And this is just another exercise showing the level of desperation and the depths they will sink to to commit a crime."
Deputies said they are searching for leads in the case.
