Making changes
Last March, Lynch kept saying he was looking for a "new direction'' in deciding not to reappoint Safety Commissioner Dick Flynn.
With a few months under his belt, new Commissioner John Barthelmes gave some signs of what that change could be.
Barthelmes said he has identified room for saving money on the administration of the state police and highway patrol.
"We know we see duplication in the administration of these two divisions and redundancies in some operations,'' Barthelmes said.

Reinstatement request
Exeter Republican Reps. Lee and Matthew Quandt are calling on Lynch to reinstate Timothy Copeland of North Hampton, who was terminated from his State Liquor Commission job after being severely injured when his state cruiser was rammed from behind while he was on duty.
Enforcement Division chief Eddie Edwards let Copeland go Sept. 5, even though Copeland's request for a state retirement disability was still pending. If left standing, the termination before his disability retirement could cause him to lose health care for his family and on-the-job injury benefits.
Copeland has appealed that finding to the State Liquor Commission. Attempts to obtain comment from the SLC about the personnel matter were unsuccessful.

So if a person hits your cruiser and disables you. The State fires you. Good work Chief Edwards. I thought they did away with Highway Patrol.

Any idea what his intentions are?
