As the car came to a stop, it went up in flames and the officer escaped without injury.

For the second time in ten days a San Antonio Police patrol car is destroyed by fire.
The latest fire happened around 11 Sunday night in the 100 block of Faust St. on the west side. The officer driving the patrol car says he pulled over when he noticed smoke coming from the back seat.
Then as soon as he got the car to a stop, it went up in flames. The officer is doing okay, but the car was totaled.
And this story is very similar to one that happened on the night of September 6th. Another SAPD officer was driving his patrol car near the intersection of Oblate and San Pedro on the north side when it caught fire.
That fire, like the one from Sunday night, started in the trunk, and destroyed the vehicle.
SAPD says they are looking into both fires.
