BOSTON -- An 18-year-old from Worcester was killed Sunday night in an alleged drunken driving crash.
A Chevy pick-up truck operated by Matthew Galvin, 20, of Leicester was driving east on Cambridge Street in Worcester when he crossed the line and hit a Ford Escort head on, officials said.
The passenger of the Ford was killed. The 17-year-old driver was listed in critical condition. Neither of their names have been released.
Galvin was charged with motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence, OUI while causing serious bodily harm, operating to endanger and failure to stay within marked lanes. Galvin was not injured in the crash.
Drunken driver pleads guilty to vehicular homicide
WORCESTER, Mass. -- A drunken driver who caused a fatal accident in Worcester last year has been sentenced to four to six years in jail.
Matthew Galvin of Leicester pleaded guilty on Wednesday in Worcester Superior Court to a variety of charges, including vehicular homicide while driving negligently and under the influence of alcohol.
Authorities say the 20-year-old Galvin was the driver of a pickup truck that crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head-on last September. Eighteen-year-old Iliamarie Rosado, a passenger in the other vehicle, died in the crash.
Prosecutors say Galvin registered a 0.22 on a Breathalyzer after the accident, nearly three times the legal limit.
Galvin lawyer says his client is remorseful.
