ENFIELD, N.H. -- A 48-year-old Vermont man has been charged with stalking a teenager by repeatedly sending her sexual messages with photographs of himself wearing a diaper.
The girl went to police, who arrested the man after observing his unwanted communication to her on her cell phone.
In addition to stalking and harassment charges, Lawrence Robarge of White River Junction, Vt., could face additional charges of exposing a minor to harm, Police Chief Richard Crate Jr. said.
"This person had quite a different sexual fetish," he said.
Robarge is not listed in telephone directories and Lebanon District Court said Thursday it had no record indicating he has an attorney. A call to police seeking his attorney's name was not immediately returned Thursday.
Crate said Robarge sent the diaper photos and vulgar messages to the girl, whom he did not know, on Sept. 5.
"It appears he was just randomly dialing some numbers," Crate said.
According to a police affidavit, Robarge told her where and how she could access the photos online. She text-messaged him back, "Gross old man leave me alone."
Rather than doing so, Robarge continued sending her text messages, saying there was nothing wrong or illegal about what he was doing and he wasn't hurting anyone, police said. He then messaged her more pictures and text messages concerning diapers and bowel movements, according to the affidavit.
She went to the police, and Detective Roy Holland observed her receiving a text message from Robarge asking her to change his diapers and introduce him to her friends, the affidavit said.
Police say the teenager, whose name they are not releasing, cooperated with them as Robarge sought to arrange a meeting in Lebanon. He said he would wear a diaper and take her to his "special secret place" at the meeting, police said. They said the meeting never happened.
Robarge is free on bail pending an Oct. 16 court appearance.
