The Provincetown Police Department is now accepting employment applications for the 2005 summer season for the positions of Summer Police Officers and Summer Dispatchers.
Requirement for Summer Police Officer includes High School graduate; Massachusetts Reserve Intermittent Police Academy certification; Current CPR and First Responder Certifications and current Firearms Qualifications is desirable.
Summer Officers will assist all regular officers in patrols by radio patrol car and on foot. They will assist motorist in distress, direct traffic and enforce traffic regulations, and respond to calls through dispatch. Makes arrest for violations of the law; gather evidence and prepares reports for court; appears in court to present evidence. Serves subpoenas, arrest warrants and transports prisoners, maintains equipment vehicles and weapons as necessary. Opportunity to work details as well.
Requirements for Summer Dispatchers include High School graduate; Any prior telecommunications experience preferred; Current CPR certification also desirable.
Summer Dispatchers will assist all regular dispatchers in answering calls for service and also emergency calls including E911. Use the LEAPS/CJIS computer on a regular bases and have access to records and information that is CORI. They must also enter warrants, restraining orders, property updates, caretaker information and new people/businesses into the in-house system as well as other tasks that may arise.
Both of these positions are 40 hr/wk (5 on/2 off) positions on a variety of different schedules. Current rates of pay are $15.03/ hr for Summer Police Officers and $13.90/ hr for Summer Dispatchers.
