Just in case it gets lost in the bottom of the main page, I'll repost here. At the CPO screening, I don't recall any mention of a "specific" water bottle. If anyone knows what kind, and where to purchase the "right" one, it would be appreciated. I called the Academy, but have yet to hear back...

Thanks in advance.

They told us to get a 700ml Propel fitness water bottle with the mouthpiece on top. They also told us to remove the label. I got mine at CVS from the cooler. Hope this helps.

LoL

Grabbed the bottle, thanks. The Academy did call me back, only bring one bottle on day one lol.

ejk55, we were told about the "other" side and how much they like us

Posted by: ejk55

The "other" side.... please. Just keep on wearing the belt badge and go home early when there is 2 inches of snow on the ground. Oh, when you have 19 years in, take the C.O. exam, be a guard for a year and retire with our retirement. Must be nice.

I was both a Correction Officer at Walpole when we averaged a murder a month back in 1973, and a correctional counselor/ program officer at a pre-release center. We didn't have uniforms back then at the pre-release center.
When there was a problem and an inmate had to be removed from his work site and returned to higher custody, 2 of us went to the site unarmed with only handcuffs and leg restraints. Try removing an inmate from a work site where his co-workers don't know he's an inmate unless he told them. It gets a little hairy. All his buddies want to help him out. I guess that when the belt and badge helps out right? By the way, the same CPO who wrote the classification report was the same guy who put the cuffs on. Maybe they'll ask you to write the next classification report. Then again not. Remember we're all on the same team here. It would be better if we all recognized the contributions we all make instead of creating a division between CO's and CPO's

I would buy a few bottles to have spares you will forget yours one day or the cap will break. You'll be carrying around a 5 gal water jug if you forget your bottle it's pretty hysterical some of the crap you have to wear or carry if you forget pieces of your uniform.

One guy in my class went way too fast through the slalom in pursuit driving, and spun the cruiser around three times. He had to wear an orange traffic cone on his head for the remainder of the course.

We had a guy forget his bottle one day so he had to wear a florescent pink hat with a huge blue-haired troll doll on top, for the week. Awesome.

True...BUT...teamwork goes to the wayside when it comes to forced OT on a snowy winters day or a lovely holiday. Hence his reference. You can't be on the same team when you play by different rules. Just FYI, the BOP is very good about this teamwork concept....atleast where I worked. EVERY staff member is security first and specialty second, including OT. Yes, it was not uncommon for a CPO to man a block.

During the interview process, they mentioned what to bring the first day (including the watter bottle)... they also said that we should all memorize the handbook that they gave us. Is it possible to get another copy from HR? My truck was broken into and that happened to be something that was stolen. I just recieved a letter about the upcoming academy and I really want to be prepared if I get that far.
