Anyone hear if Northeastern Univ. PD is good to work for? I heard they keep pretty busy, but no chpt 90. Also, if you have the full time MPOC, do they keep your certification up?

If you like working for a Department that is micro managed you would like it.... I worked there for only six months and I couldn't wait to get out. The only good thing about that place is the education incentive and they are busy. However you can't go to the bath room without permission from a sergeant and you have to be a certified EMT within six months of employment. Take my advice, look else where......!!!!

Its a VERY busy department! You will get alot of good experience doing police work. Most of the guys are good, but as Harley stated, you can't breath without getting permission from the PS. It is a very micromanaged department. The #1 and #2 have been in office since the inception of the PD and have never been police officers anywhere. They come from a security background and that's how they try to run the place. Although, the nature of the job doesn't allow for it.
Good luck! And remember 80-5!!!!!!

The turnover rate there is amazing. I saw so many officers come and go, most of them moving onto municipal depts. NU is pretty much a stepping stone for many people. I hear Harvard is not a bad gig. If I were you, I'd definitely find something better.

In so far as your MPOC question......

MPTC will NOT allow any Campus agency to go to in-service. They can go to MPOC, but not annual in-service or specialty courses. YA! that makes sense!
