Skeletal remains found by a hunter in the woods off of Route 122 in Rutland are of a 35-year-old Worcester woman reported missing in February, Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said yesterday.
Medical examiners used dental records to identify the woman, authorities said. In a news release, Early said the woman went by three names: Linieda O. Gonzalez, Linieda Olivera, and Rosa Gomez.
A bow-and-arrow hunter near Rutland State Park discovered the remains Monday afternoon while checking the condition of his tree blind, or hunting cover, about 200 yards off Route 122. The hunter was preparing for the upcoming deer-hunting season, authorities said.
The thickly wooded area is not part of Rutland State Park but is controlled by the state Department of Conservation and Recreation. State Police detectives, Rutland police, and Worcester police are investigating the death.
Tim Connolly, a spokesman for the district attorney's office, said it is too early to say whether the death might be connected to the unsolved deaths of four other women whose bodies were discovered in Marlborough and Hudson between 2003 and 2005.
