Finally making the move to Florida

(Click here to view the original thread on the MassCops Message Board)

Well I just finished school and the time has come....making the move to Florida for November 1st. Moving to the Hollywood / Fort Lauderdale area. Saved up enough $ to last me at least 6 months to either land a spot somewhere and if not i'll have to pick up a job until an agency picks me up. A little nervous moving away from everything...but it will be well worth it once I find something

Sunny South Florida here I come!

Congrats and good luck Mustang. It's a big move to pick up and go, but shows a lot of commitment. My absolute deadline for heading way south or way west for a police job is still a couple of years offl. Let us know how you make out in the Sunshine?/ Orange?/ Vacation? state.

God's waiting room state

Best to go and find work in a system that works versus sitting around complaining about one that doesn't. Just my two cents.

Best of luck and let me know if I can be of any assistance.

that's true, thats why if CS scores dont come back decent...im out

Good luck to you. I did the same thing "way back when" in 1988 when I came out to Los Angeles. Didn't know a soul out here and I was plenty nervous but after all this time, it's the best thing I ever did. It won't be easy at first but you'll do fine, just keep with it.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Once I get established and meet a few friends I should be fine. Really looking forward to this

Keep that positive attitude and you'll do fine. I've been here for over 6 years and I still love Florida.

Posted by: NegroRotary

6 years huh, have you gotten homesick yet?

Posted by: PBC FL Cop

Nope

Posted by: NegroRotary

Hahahaha I know what you mean man!

know a lot of guys that made the move and landed on their feet quite well. Once you get your foot in the door you can't beat the job security. If you're still young then the opportunities are endless.

by moving on you have actually taken the biggest step. everything else will fall into place.

good luck.

Will do.

Hardest part so far is finding an apartment. Been looking at a bunch but I've never dealt with getting an apartment so far away.
