HAMPTON FALLS, N.H. --Authorities are investigating a shooting by a Hampton Falls police officer during a pursuit through town.
State police and the attorney general's office said the shot hit a van that had failed to stop for a traffic stop in Kingston. The officer fired when the van crashed into two Hampton Falls police cruisers set up as a blockade, and kept going. Police caught up when the van went off the road in Amesbury, Mass.
Van driver, Derek Soucie, 24, was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released into police custody.
Authorities didn't release the officer's name.

AMESBURY - Police arrested a Dracut man on the run from New Hampshire authorities Saturday after chasing him through town.
According to Sgt. Lee Frost, police were told on Saturday night to look out for Derek Soucie, 24, of 30 Berkeley Drive, Dracut, by the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office. A Kensington police officer had attempted to pull Soucie over at about 10:45 p.m., according to reports, but Soucie fled to Hampton Falls.
Hampton Falls and Kensington officers tried to block Soucie in at the driveway of Anderson Marina on Route 1, according to police reports, but Soucie drove away and hit two police cruisers. While Soucie was escaping, a Hampton Falls officer shot at and hit the van, according to reports.
Amesbury officers attempted to pull Soucie over and chased him through the center of town. Soucie eventually went off the road on Lions Farm Road and got stuck in the mud, Frost said.
Soucie kept gunning the engine as officers approached his car from the front, but it only dug deeper into the mud, Frost said. Soucie was taken to Anna Jaques Hospital and treated for minor injuries after police arrested him.
Soucie was charged with driving while under the influence of drugs, assault with a dangerous weapon, reckless driving, failing to stop for police, resisting arrest and being a fugitive from justice. The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office is still investigating the chase.
