WORCESTER, Mass. -- A former Registry of Motor Vehicles clerk has been charged with stealing $76,000 from the agency.
Diana Coroniti, 36, of Walpole, is accused of taking advantage of her access to daily bank deposits while working at the Milford RMV branch.
Attorney General Martha Coakley's office alleges that Coroniti, who worked as a teller, would accept checks but not complete the transaction.
She would then put the checks into the daily deposit and take out a corresponding amount in cash.
Investigators allege she stole the money between January and June 2005.
Coroniti pleaded not guilty Monday in Worcester Superior Court to larceny charges.
She began working the RMV's Framingham office in 2001, transferred to Milford in 2004 and was dismissed in 2005.
