Gun jamming

I have a Ruger 22 target pistol that for some reason likes to jam. I have only fire about a hunderd rounds through it and it was a brand new gun so maintance should not be an issue. I was wondering if any one had the same expreince? I am going to try some different ammo to see if that the issue but any other thoughts would be great.

Had the same issue, change the ammo, don't buy the cheap stuff.

Get high velocity stuff and run it for a WHILE...As mikey said don't buy cheap stuff, and don't buy that truncated crap either.
After a thousand rounds of the "hot stuff" it should cycle well with most everything except the cheap crap and some of the CZ ammo.

Thanks for the info the ammo i was use is CCI .22LR Standard Velocity. I will try some High velocity stuff for a while and buy some better stuff.

Like most machines, it needs to be "broken in" to get the working/ bearing surfaces polished to eachother. In addition to firing it, you could cycle the action several hundred times and work the surfaces together so they smoothe out. Do this with minimal lubrication. This will also break in the recoil spring.

Something else to check is the feed angle of the rounds from the magazine feed lips. Incorrect feed angle presents the round to the chamber incorrectly and creates drag if the round is rubbing on the chamber edge when chambering. Also check the top of the mag to see if the slide is dragging on the top of the feed lips. Look for any shiney wear on both the mag and bottom of the slide. Adjust the mag feed lips accordingly.

that .22 ammo is dirty stuff. a good cleaning with a green scrub pad with a good solvent and some mil-spec lube might get the job done.

mine was good out of the box. bitch to put back together

Go with the CCI Minimags. .22LR high velocity copper plated rounds (I don't know why they don't just call them jacketed)...only about 5 cents each.

I know that is what Sig recommends in their .22 pistol - I have no idea what Browning recommends though.
