I hear the Chief of Stonehill College is leaving and they just lost two Sgt.'s. Rumor at Bridgewater State College is that Stonehills LT is been hanging around trying to get back into Bridgewater State.

Posted by: FSCPD902

Yeah I also heard a rumor that Stonehill's department is unfortunately going downhill..I am still a little bitter from when they told me to get off my roof when I was putting X-mas lights up on my townhouse my senior year...haha

Posted by: 57ragus

FSCPD902,

What year you graduate? I heard they installed cameras all over the place since I left.

Posted by: 1109

What year did you graduate? I was told there is only one.

Posted by: FSCPD902

Posted by: Danman1116

Posted by: bstrawse

They're looking for a new Chief / Director as well.

yea I did find out that he did put in his resignation...man the dept is falling apart at the seams

That Department has had a rep. of picking up the unwanted from other PD's for a while now-no surprise the steel treads are finally showing through the rubber.

As for the Lt. looking to go back to Bridge. State-word is the gates are barred and they have set a watch on the surround...

Posted by: Dibble

clarification before the onslaught. They have good people as well, like any other PD-the boobs are just that much more noticable.

Posted by: Mitpo62

Danman......I'll go back to BSC if you will! I'd love to work with you again.

The boobs complain the most, that's why

Posted by: 1109

There has been some flunkies at Stonehill but the majority of the Officers that are there are good ones. They say the LT. is getting chummy with the BSC Chief looking for a position.

Posted by: mpd61

Don't fall for the garbage. The majority of the "Stonies" were good people. Was an okay job for people who could put up with working for an unarmed "service-oriented" department.

I can't speak for them over the last year or so though.

Posted by: 1109

mpd61 did you ever work there?

Posted by: ffocop

Here's a new idea...why doesn't someone just call, or swing by, and ASK one of the Cops what's going on? On second thought...probably better off to stick to rumors, it makes better print.

No,

But as an actor I play a Stonehill Cop. Seriously I was selected by Rose and one of the Sergeants. couple years back, then some secretary in HR made a negative comment. I wasn't supposed to find out, etc etc.
I dunno, maybe I farted while I was filling out my insurance card?

Who cares? I'm armed and doing road details. They were a good department on the surface. I have lived in this area for 40+ years and never heard anything BAD about them.

I hope the Chaplin blessed you after that!

Been there and left there. Most people were great , but you have few that do not know what they want, Real department or not. They just like to complain.
Department has potential.

Posted by: tntdefense

Ok here's the final dish as I know it.....

The department:
Like any other has good and bad qualities. The admin (college bosses) don't know what they want... i.e. a Police or a security dept. They however do need to maintain a Police dept so maintain thier accredited status as a College.

The Chief:
Decent guy... BIG heart, always trying to make friends with his employees... as we all know this is a bad mix when you're a supervisor.

The Lt.
Nice guy, very determined to make the department a "Police" department rather than a security/insurance office (if you have've been to the station you know what i mean) As with any changes you have to want to change...... unfortunately some didn't want to change and therefore.....

The Sgts.
Some were good some were odd and one was an outright jackas* (JS)... you know who you are. The new Sgt. i hear is a good guy but never worked with him.

The officers:
In a dept of nearly 15, there's a handful of workers and loafers... the workers try to pull the department up and the other just want to collect a pay check. Like any other job or personality for that matter if only get out of it what you want...ie. you want training you ask for it, you want respect you earn it... There's been good and bad guys/gals that work and worked there.

My last opinion is this.... if you want things to get better put as much effort into making it happen as you do bitching and moaning. If not then you have no right to bitch....

Opinions are like a-holes everyones got one and I just showed you all mine!!!

Well TNTDEFENSE if you actually knew what you were talking about there is 8 full time and 1 pt Officers and 1 Sgt. 1 Lt. there in the department right now. As for your observation of the Chief was pretty much on target. The Officers some what. But as for the Sgt.'s and Lt. way off.

tnt, he does seem fairly knowledgeable, I wonder what shift he's on?

Posted by: ffocop

In the event that anyone is interested in facts; There are actually nine full time Officers, one part-time weekend Officer, one Sergeant, one Lieutenant, two Watchpersons, two Parking Enforcement Officers, and one Chief. I know...I work here. Now exactly where I "fit" in the full time Officer category (see previous posts) doesn't much matter to me but then again it isn't up to me to anyway.

To TNTDEFENSE,
You pretty much hit it on the head for the most part. Alot of old issues that kept comming up because someone got by passed for SGT years ago and never let go of the personal issues. As for JS being an A-hole, he had issues, like most do, but I believe now he was being lead astray by the person causing the real problem. (Person that got by passed). He seems to get who ever will buy into his crap to do his dirty work for him.
I never had a problem, other than the usual, with any of the supervisors there. When I needed a question answered I got an answer. Can not ask for more that that. I left personalities out of it because they do not belong in the work place.
True about not knowing which way the department want to head. School does not know so how can the Officers and Supervisors know. You spend about 80% time opening doors and other non-police stuff and about 20% doing police work. ( my opinion )
Lt. came in over a years ago into a department that had no S.O.P. in place and is trying to get some going. Change breeds contempt. It is tough to take, but sometimes necessary to keep up with the present. 1st major change he tried was to make sure no officer worked along during shifts. Stonehill had no rule covering that and sometimes officers were forced to work a shifts alone. Not great for Officer Safety. Campus Police get hurt and kill each year as well. Certain peole were against it because they did not work to work more than 40 hrs. ( Used" it is not in our contract".) No one likes to get ordered, but to leave a brother alone just does not say team work.
Alot of good people working there , but they are not functioning as a team so it is making it very difficult .
1109 if you work there, which I'm sure you do, I have covered your A-- and taken care of your crew many times, but I'm still taking the knife out of my back and washing off the tire marks from when you and your crew went to H.R. and through a lot of us under the bus because you did not want change. WRONG.. So KMA.....
To all out there that are caught up with the Stonehill bashing, it would be a very good place to work if everyone would just work together. That's all I have to say.....

During my time @ Stonehill, the only real police situation I saw was when the Stonehill "police" overreacted to a few kids jumping in mud puddles and called in multiple outside agencies for assistance(MSP, Brockton, Easton, National Guard). This lead to multiple arrests, and innocent bystanders being pepper-sprayed by an overzealous nitwit from Brockton PD. As a CJ major at the time, I thought right away that Stonehill "PD" dropped the ball and now as a police officer I know that they did.

Posted by: coppsinc

Sorry for the TYPE O's. Kids running amuck at the time.....

Posted by: Finding Nemo

coppsinc very nicely spoken.

here's what I would like to add to the mix....

From what I know you have no Sergeants except one new Sergeant who still has his head spinning, a Chief who is on his way out the door as soon as he can get too it, and a Lt who apparently trying to hold the whole operation together before they fire everyone and hire Pinkerton (from what I hear it's not a bad idea).

I hear the Chiefis a nice guy, sometimes too nice. The Lt. he must have thought that the officers who call themselves cops, dress like cops, who beg for firearms all wanted to be "COPS", hmmmmmmm "what a thought a department filled will actual cops!" To bad it took him 10 months to realize he had a group of ?, what do you call them? From what I hear that department has moved forward in leaps and bounds, no thanks to the whiners of course...

So how will this department save itself? That’s remains to be seen...

I have a good friend that works with you guys and from what he tells me, the dept has great potential. I have a few friends on the south shore that will be applying once the positions are posted, I also would apply if i didnt live so damn far away!

my 2 cents on the subject...

Done!

have a safe year to all!

I know the LT at Stonehill and he is as squared away a cop as you'll find out there. He knows his stuff, is an exceptional supervisor, and does his job. You won't find a better man.

With a new chief on board and a great second in command, things can only improve at Stonehill College. Best wishes for continued success to both!
