What does it matter how far away the test is if you want the job
they don't test at your door.

Good Point Kwflatbed, I hope that everyone that has to travel a great distance knows that the academy is in Shirley Ma. So that would mean additional mileage traveled by that person since we don't have the academy in any other city... In CodeBlue1970's case, he could be traveling up to 100 miles a day for 10 weeks. However, it can be done. I've seen it done.

You missed the point KW. I am boston so I would figure that they would usually keep you around the area you live which they have done numerous times before for testing. I thought it was unusual to get a notice to appear in worcester. Last time I was sent to lynn high for testing.

Hi CodeBlue1970, I know that your questions are directed to KW but I just wanted to clear something up with you. I know for a fact that the DOC will place you where they need you. You have no say on your assignment. I live 15 minutes away from the nearest institution to my home.Yet I was assigned to a place that takes me an hour to drive to daily. I tell you this with no regret because I knew what I was getting into and now so do you... Well at least on traveling. Peace.

Posted by: pahapoika

that does seem far. all my tests have been here in the city. the DOC test was in Medford , maybe the state needed a more central location.

Posted by: CodeBlue1970

That is the exact point I am making about the worcester testing site. I have always been scheduled for around my area. I geuss i will calll them monday and ask if it is a mistake or something.

Posted by: pahapoika

with the Fire and PD tests i think if you put down Boston as your residency , you get tested in the city. maybe because it's a state test it's more state wide orientated ?

although i remember the MSP test was at Boston Latin some years back , so who knows ?

I did not miss the point, everyone cries they want the LE jobs then they should
be ready to go and take the test.

I don't care if it was at the tip of Cape Cod or the NY line in the Berkshires, if
I wanted the job bad enough I would be there for the test and not question where
it was to be held.

This goes for all SP,Local,Corrections,etc.

It's the same for the academy you go where they send you.

I am not from Boston and I tested at the Washington Irving MS in Roslindale. Go figure. Its not fun getting up early on a Saturday morning but like KW said if you want it...prove it. As much as they are charging to take the damn thing I would hope you are serious and willing to travel any where.

They are probably holding the test at only one location this time and Worcester being centrally located it makes sense. Best of luck.

Live on the south shore. I am taking the CO I test and I am at a middle school in quincy talked to a few of the guys from different towns around here and they are all at the same place. I am assuming since they extended the date to register that they werent happy with the amount of people who signed up to take the test. Anyone have any idea how many Officers they are planning to hire off this test. I am pretty sure they have a class in the academy right now.

Thanks

Fed Up,

I was checking out the state website the last contract that is on there for the DOC Officers expired in 2003. They just got their contract done? I know the state takes their time with things, but 4 years! Anyway I am taking the test hopefully I do well enough to get invited to participate in the process.

Good luck to everyone going out no matter where they have it.

KW, Cool down will ya!!

I called HR and they said i was scheduled for the wrong testing site and was sent a new paper for quincy. Some of you guys on here take everything to heart. So much for a questions forum it is more like a bashing forum!!

Only around 85 people showed for CO1 test in quincy

There is no need for me to cool down, like I said if you want the job
bad enough you go where the test is held no matter where it is.

Did you need someone to drive you there and hold your hand for the
test ????

Posted by: CodeBlue1970

I dont have to go where the test is if HR messed up the scheduling location and they fixed it.

Your just being a plain jackass with your comments!!

Grow up !! Go do a detail or something

Posted by: kwflatbed

CodeBlue1970 some day you will understand what people are saying.

In stead of crying about where the tests are held mistake or not
you just go and take the test if you want the job.

You sound just like the cry babies complaining the test is to hard,
dumb it down so I can pass.

The only jackass is you crying to get everything your way.
