(WBZ) ORANGE A man from Orange and his three cousins from Gardner are in trouble for allegedly setting up burglaries through MySpace.

According to authorities, the four of them posed as an 18-year-old woman on the Internet social networking site. They allegedly lured men they met on the site to a meeting.

In one case, when the victim went out to meet the fictional woman, his home was robbed while he was gone.

Another man who went to meet the woman at a park was robbed when he got there.

Police say 19-year-old Bryan Bowers of Orange; 19-year-old Thomas Lafrennie, 18-year-old Amanda Lafrennie; and 24-year-old Lawrence Lafrennie, all of Gardner, have each been charged with two counts of conspiracy, larceny in a building, armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and burglary.

They all pleaded not guilty at their arraignments.

Exclusive: Teen Charged in Myspace Burglary Speaks

August 13, 2007 5:57 p.m.

ORANGE, MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP) Two Gardner men thought they were making a friend online. Instead, police say behind the computer were four felons. 22News reporter Anthony DiLorenzo spoke exclusively to one of the teens charged in this world wide web of deceit.
Bryan Bowers is a prisoner in his East Howe Street home in Orange. He sports a police monitoring bracelet after a court date back in May with three other alleged partners in crime. It was then, the 19-year-old along with, Thomas LaFrennie, Amanda LaFrennie and Lawrence LaFrennie, were charged with luring two Gardner men from their home after meeting on MySpace.com, to allegedly beat and burglarize them. "I admitted to being there and helping even though I shouldn't have," said Bowers. He claims to have an alibi and maintains his innocence in each incident. But said he went wrong by admitting in a statement to hatching and carrying out the crimes. "I was caught on the side of friendship where I thought if I helped it would bring less [charges] on them," explained Bowers regarding his police statement. Police say the precarious plot was devised over the social networking website. The foursome allegedly masked their identity as an innocent, teenage local girl named "Erica Smith", and created a relationship with the men under false pretenses. They reportedly arranged to meet the men separately on different dates. When the men left their homes, the teens reportedly made their move. "I was there to help the get away driver the night of the 7th and I was the one to help put the guy on the ground on the 12th," continued Bowers. He said he hasn't talked to his alleged co-conspirators since their last district court date. Next Monday, they'll rendezvous again, when indictments are handed down in superior court. Each of the teenagers pleaded innocent at their previous arraignment. Bowers posted cash bail, the others are being held awaiting trial.
