Providence Police on Highways

The last few times i've driven to Providence, i've noticed some providence police officers doing construction details on the hiways, and usually there is an RISP trooper nearby, I was just wondering why this is, because I thought PPD was short staffed, not RISP.

Thanks

Short-staffing doesn't effect paid details. The Providence PD was most likely working a job the RISP couldn't fill. We get called by the MSP for details they can't fill once in awhile.

that's the new "Iway" construction detail, its a split detail, Providence does mostly near the blocked off on/off ramps, state does most of the highway portion itself

I thought MSP never gave up their details, at least on the highways

They're not giving up anything, they just offer it to us if they can't fill it themselves.

Apparently you've never driven past a highway detail with a local or a sheriff?

In RI state details that cant be filled are often sent to the local pd in which the state hw is intersecting. I have seen local cops patrol the hw as well a few weeks ago a johnston cop bagged someone in front of me for speeding.

In that case; ignore my sarcastic remark.
