I am currently living in Louisiana, and the gun laws are very loose. (I can buy basically anything, even full auto) Anyways, I will be out of the military soon, and will be moving back to mass (amherst to be exact)
If I was to buy a AK47, Would I be able to bring it back with me (sans 30 round mag) ?

No. Not unless it was made before 1994 or doesn't have all the evil features. MA still has a state assault weapons ban. You would also need be able to secure, at a minimum a Class B (or really a Class A as no one issues a Class B) license within the perscribed amount of time.
Now when you say AK47, I'm assuming you mean any number of the semi-auto guns...not a real full auto AK. If you did happen to buy a transferable AK47, you would need a machine gun license (green card) to posses it in MA.
Interestingly enough...most AK mags for the 47 are pre-ban....so often the mags are not the problem but the vintage of the gun is. Further, AK's are OK if they do not have the evil features. There are AWB OK AK's out there...lots of them infact...just no folders, no flash suppressors, no bayonet lugs etc.
