QUINCY - A break-in in North Quincy has left police and residents looking for answers.
A man who lives at 81 Walker St. was sleeping in a basement bedroom at 5:37 p.m. Wednesday when he woke up to the odor of cigarette smoke coming through the air ducts.
The man, whose name was not released, knew no one in the home smoked and got up to investigate. On the second floor, he encountered a man described as Asian-American - and in his late 20s, thin, 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 100 to 120 pounds with a dark complexion - and wearing a dark baseball cap, a white long-sleeved shirt, shiny polyester gym pants and latex gloves.
The resident spoke to the intruder in English, and got a response in Vietnamese: Im not doing anything. The man then ran down the stairs, calling out the name Houang.
The resident chased him outside, then came back in the house to confront a second Asian-American intruder - in his late 20s, weighing 150 pounds, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, wearing a blue Red Sox cap, denim shorts, a white T-shirt and another white shirt with buttons. The second intruder then ran out the back door.
The victim told police he noticed a white Ford Focus parked near his home before the break-in, saying the car was gone after the men fled.
It is unknown what, if anything, was taken from the house.
Anyone with information is asked to call Quincy detectives at 617-745-5764.
