BRAINTREE - A Boston gang member is being sought in connection with the mugging of a Quincy man, with police tracking him down through his MySpace page and photos linking him to the two other suspects in the armed robbery.
Michael R. Stallings, 18, of Dorchester set the 31-year-old victim up for the robbery by asking him to share his umbrella as he walked in the rain near the 7-Eleven on Quincy Avenue the night of July 8, police said.
On Mill Lane, where Stallings claimed he lived, two other men with knives jumped from behind bushes, knocked the Quincy man to the ground and stole his wallet and BlackBerry cell phone.
The three fled toward Faxon Street.
Antone Ramos, 18, of Braintree and John J. Jones Jr., 18, of Quincy have already been apprehended and are charged with armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, larceny of more than $250 and making threats.
Police obtained a warrant Monday for Stallings’ arrest on charges of armed robbery and assault and battery.
‘‘Detective Brendan McLaughlin identified Stallings in part through his MySpace screen name and used photos viewed on his Web site to link him to two other men,’’ Deputy Police Chief Russell Jenkins said.
The Boston Police Youth Violence Strike force identified Stallings as a member of a street gang, Jenkins said.
The victim and a witness who saw him walk down Mill Lane identified Stallings from an array of photos, Jenkins said.
