TAUNTON— Following a tip and surveillance, police arrested two people Sunday in connection with illegal steroids found in a vehicle's gas tank.
Jarred Goodhue, 24, of 51 Galahad Way, North Easton, was charged with possession of a Class C substance, steroids, with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate the drug laws.
Damien Hopkins, 24, of 241 High St. was charged with conspiracy to violate the drug laws.
Patrolman Jeffrey Martin had placed two vehicles under surveillance after receiving a tip that he had just missed a drug buy.
When one of the vehicles turned into the parking lot of Weir Fruit on Sunday at 6:29 p.m., a man approached and opened the gas cap, but spotted the police cruiser and fled.
The man, Hopkins, was stopped and arrested after steroids were found in the gas tank.
Police found two vials of clear liquid marked Decaplex and Sustaplex and a glassine bag containing 100 small pink pills in the gas tank.
The operator of the vehicle, Goodhue, was also arrested.
A passenger in the car, Nick Cimeno, 26, of 26 Ayers Road, Monson, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Also helping with the surveillance and arrests were Patrolmen Peter MacDougall, Lori Moniz, and Detective Troy Medeiros.
