A longtime veteran of the Manchester Police Department has died.
The department announced the death on Monday of Capt. Patrick Reeves, who served as a commanding officer.
Reeves served 27 years with the Manchester Police Department. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter. Police said Reeves was attending a police conference in Montreal, Canada, when he died from what appears to be natural causes.
Reeves received the lifesaving award in 1982 for freeing a person trapped under a vehicle that exploded in flames. He was a founding member of the Manchester Police Athletic League, he graduated with the FBI National Academy's 200th session and he was one of the original commanders of the Capitol Region Emergency Services Team (CREST) team.
