NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- A New Haven police officer was struck by a car on Monday morning.
The mayor's office told Eyewitness News the driver of a sport utility vehicle struck a female officer at about 9 a.m.
Police said the officer was struck while she was directing traffic around a water pipe construction scene on Morris Street at Lamberton Street. Neighbors told Eyewitness News that the intersection is dangerous. Resident Donshika Castro said she fears the intersection so much that she keeps her children inside. She said that many cars drive onto the curb.
Crews transported the officer to St. Raphael's Hospital and she continues to recover from minor injuries through the noon hour.
There's no word yet on whether the driver of the car will face charges. Police said the driver has been cooperative and authorities have not yet released that person's identity.
