Hi, i'm close to graduating high school, and i'm looking into going into the military. Right now i'm lookin at the air force, coast guard, and navy. I know a good amount about the first two, but I can't seem to find a lot of info on the Navy's law enforcement, which brings me to my question, does anyone have any info on the Master at Arms position, ie. do they do a lot of law enforcement?, is a good job?, can i get a shoreside position?
any info is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Go to "Military.com" and look for the discussion word and click on Navy and there will be a tone of stuff about that question bro. Thats what I want to be is a maa. I'm signing up next year some time. Good luck

If you do a search in this forum i have answered this question alot. MAA's if stationed to a base stand post at the gate while DOD police patrol the interior. If stationed to a ship you basically administer piss tests, stand guard in the armory, and you answer directly to the XO. Its basically like any other military law enforcement position. Its basically more security work then "police" work. HTH

Ditto Above. In recent years the Coasties have been receiving training in, and performing more real L.E. duties than the gnats or squids.

And after you spend some time in the Navy, a natural follow up position might be NCIS. They are an outstanding le unit.

Look up what a brig guard is, and thats what MAAs do...do the right thing, and dont go cop in the military...it doesnt score you brownie points when you go though the hiring process for a PD. I was a SF in the air force for 5 years, and the only reason I got to do LE was because I went to an all le squadron.

Coming from someone who never served in any of the branches you mentioned, why would you look at the Navy if you want to stay "shoreside." If you don't want to end up on a ship or boat you should prob. join the Air Force.

Good Luck in whatever you choose!
