A GRAN who fired an airgun to scare off a gang of yobs was arrested by Ten armed cops.
Jean Champion, 69, shot a pellet into the air as her home was besieged by the thugs.
She had been driven “to her wits’ end” by the abuse and swearing from the gang.
The teenage yobs fled when Jean fired but an hour later police stormed into her house in Feltwell, Norfolk and took her away.
Her partner Ian Stuart said: “I had gone out to ask these kids to quieten down, but they just swore at me.
“Then Jean came out and fired an airgun round into the air and the kids just disappeared.
“I don’t even think she knew what she was doing, she was so angry. We thought that was the end of it, but later we saw torches in our garden and wondered what was happening.
“Then all of a sudden ten armed police officers came in, grabbed her and marched her away. It was terrifying. She’s nearly 70 and wouldn’t hurt a fly. The police should be dealing with gangs of kids — not targeting OAPs.”
A police spokesman said Jean had been released with a caution after spending a night in the cells after the incident on Wednesday.
He said: “Because of the nature of the report armed officers were deployed and a 69-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of a firearms offence.”
