RANDOLPH - Former town planning board chairman Michael Walsh was arrested on drug charges, and police are investigating recent thefts at the senior citizen housing complex where he was working.

Walsh, who served on the planning board for 12 years before resigning in 2002 pleaded innocent in Quincy District Court to possession of Darvocet, Trazadone and Ultram with intent to distribute and to possession of Tivan.

He was arrested Tuesday at the Simon Fireman House on North Main Street where he is a maintenance worker after police found that a warrant had been issued for his failure to appear at a Fall River District Court hearing.

The drugs were found on Walsh when he was booked at the police station, according to a report on file at Quincy District Court.

He did not have prescriptions for the drugs, according to a police report on file at Quincy District Court.

He pleaded innocent at his Quincy District Court arraignment and was told to return to court Sept. 13.

Police were at the Fireman House after the drug Vicodan was reported missing from one apartment, and a gold money clip and cash was reported missing from another.

Police said Walsh had a master key, and that he had recent access to the apartments, the report said.

Walsh and his wife, Mary, resigned from jobs at the Randolph Housing Authority in February 2005.

Walsh had been a mechanic and electrician, and his wife was an administrative assistant.

Walsh had been criticized for allegedly using housing authority trucks for personal use and taking a truck on vacation.

Michael and Mary Walsh were put on on administrative leave at one point while working at the housing authority when it was discovered that Michael Walsh did not have a valid driver’s license and that both were falsifying time records.
