AUBURN, Wash. --
One person is dead and two others injured following an overnight police chase in Auburn, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.
Investigators said three people in a 1993 Saturn were running from police when their car flipped on Auburn Way and 45th Street Northeast.
Police said the driver, a 20-year-old woman, lost control of the car, crashed through a steel fence and flew over a pond. The car came to rest on its roof near an apartment complex.
One man died at the scene and two others were transported to Harborview Medical Center.
The woman is under police watch at the hospital, and she could be charged with vehicular homicide.
Auburn police said the incident started at a Wal-Mart store on Supermall Way when a police saw a man get out of a car that was reported stolen from Tacoma.
Auburn police said the incident started at the Wal-mart on Supermall Way when an officer observed one of the men get out of a Honda that was stolen from Tacoma, then get into a Saturn.
Authorities said an officer attempted a traffic stop but the driver fled northbound on Auburn Way North, reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph.
Auburn police officials said the officer was authorized to pursue the vehicle.
