Off-duty Tex. officer shot 3 times

EL PASO, Tex. — An off-duty Juárez police officer was shot early Saturday morning according to a statement from Juárez city officials.

Juan Daniel Arenas Longoria, 33, was shot three times while sitting in his black Ford Expedition.
Arenas, off-duty at the time, was shot in the abdomen, chest and left shoulder.
According to officials an internal investigation reported that Arenas had been at La Rosita, a recreation center, with friends and colleagues from work until about midnight. Arenas allegedly was passed out drunk in his SUV when he was attacked at about 4 a.m.
The victim told his superiors that he was unarmed, did not remember arguing with anyone and that he did not know of any reason for the attack.
According to the medical report bullets from a .357 caliber gun were removed from the victim and he is in stable condition.
