(WBZ) MANCHESTER, N.H. Thieves have put a cloud over a Little League tournament raising money in the name of a fallen Manchester, New Hampshire police officer.

Food to be sold during the Michael Briggs Memorial Tournament was stolen Tuesday night from the Manchester Central Little League concession stand.

Profits from the sales were intended to go to a charity chosen by the Briggs family. The thieves also stole hundreds of dollars in cash and two-way radios.

"It's just horrible that they had to break into steal money from a Little League," umpire William Dreckmann told WBZ-TV's Karen Anderson.

"Somebody had actually kicked the door in. You can still see their footprint....everything was ransacked," said league President Sally Dreckmann. "It hurts because our league keeps the kids off the street, keeps them active, out of trouble, and to take away from our kids really hurts."

There have been no arrests.

Briggs used to patrol the area. He was shot and killed last October while investigating a domestic disturbance.

"It was low, someone who would actually go into a Little League to take the money. It made me angry," said 11-year-old Sarah Dreckmann.

The league isn't sure how they'll make it financially but leaders promise to stay open for the kids.

Donations for the Manchester Central Little League can be made at any Citizens Bank branches. Checks can also be mailed to Citizens Bank, 1283 Hooksett Road, Hooksett, N.H. 03106.
