BEDFORD, Ind. --
A newly unsealed court document shows that a former Lawrence County sheriff has turned over 183 guns he kept in his home.
Former sheriff Kent Hawkins is accused of forging other officers' signatures and improperly keeping weapons turned over to his department in a gun buyback program.
He has pleaded not guilty to charges of forgery and official misconduct and is free on bond.
Under the buyback program, officers' old firearms were supposed to be sent to the supplier for a credit.
Some of the guns found in Hawkins' home had Indiana State Police and Lawrence County Sheriff logos and several had tags or barcodes from the buyback program.
The warrant also shows that Hawkins had firearm accessories, arrows, knives and a videotape of a crime scene in his home.
