TITUSVILLE, Fla. --

Titusville police are trying to figure out who is scaling the outside of town homes and breaking in through third story balconies. Victims and authorities have started referring to the thief as the Spiderman Burglar.
The suspect is apparently not afraid of heights or even his victims. Tuesday, the thief climbed the outside of a building along the Indian River Lagoon and burglarized the home while the victims were inside, a floor below.
Investigators aren't sure exactly how the thief is doing it, but somehow he is scaling the walls of a Broad Street town home complex and breaking in.
"The investigator thinks they got in on the third floor. It's the only way they could have," said the latest victim, who didn't want to be identified for fear of retaliation.

She said was stunned it was going on while she and her husband were there in a different area of their town home
"The frightening thing is he was in the house with us and actually went through my purse, which was on the second floor," she said.
The man wasn't able to get a lot, but stole some cash and small items before he jumped from the third floor balcony, to the second floor balcony, to the ground and ran away. The eyewitnesses said he was well-groomed and well-dressed, not what you would expect from a burglar.
"This man did not look threatening. If I passed him on the street, I probably would have said hello to him," the victim said.
But the burglar is bold by trying to break into an upper floor during the day while victims are inside. Police are advising people, even on higher levels of apartments and condos, to still take measures protecting your belongings.
"You would think it would be difficult to get in on the third floor, but apparently this guy is proving otherwise," said Cpl. Robert Kelly, Titusville Police Department.
And, after striking one complex four times, all apparently from balconies, they don't know what he will do next.
The suspect is said to be a white man, about 45 years old with blond hair and trimmed beard. He was last seen running away wearing a green polo shirt. If you have any information, you should contact the Titusville Police Department.
