ENFIELD, CONNECTICUT (WWLP) - Enfield Police put a stop to a 4th of July fireworks show, they say rivaled Springfield's. While firecrackers are legal in Connecticut, these were professional grade imported from Pennsylvania. While the Star Spangled Springfield went off without a hitch Wednesday night, a few miles south in Enfield, Connecticut, residents watched another show featuring red, white and flashing blue. Connecticut State Police confiscated the pyrotechnics, purchased from Pennsylvania because of the highly explosive nature. "We sit around eat, watch fireworks; its safe. No one got hurt before," said neighbor Mike Moschetto. This year about 150 neighbors also watched four people placed under arrest, including a minor. "They had a professional grade fireworks show going on. It was kind of a brazen in the middle of the road." Enfield Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said fireworks are legal in Connecticut, but not these. "Anything that makes a bang or explosive noise, flies up in the air is probably illegal." Police say to stick with buying from licensed dealers. The four men have been charged with breach of peace and possessing illegal fireworks.
"Imported from Pennsylvania" ... I don't know, something about that just sounds goofy.
