The Next MSP Exam

(Click here to view the original thread on the MassCops Message Board)

Anyone out there have any idea on when the next MSP Exam is? I know the last was in 2002 and I haven't heard anything about them hiring another class off that exam. Any information would be great.

Posted by: CTrain

Someone makes a thread about this every other month, check in the State Police sub forum.

There is not an exam scheduled yet, a kid from school claimed he called the recruiters and they said probably 2009... But who knows

Posted by: badgebunny

Early spring/summer of 2008 was the info I was given.

Posted by: FightingIrish

ok great thanks guys. sorry about the repetitive post, im pretty new here

Your best bet is to call the recruitment section, anything else is just hearsay and conjecture

that's not what I heard.

i hear something different every week. i just ignore it and continue to wait for the official word...still waiting.

Posted by: Massguy

Well I dont care if there is a test because I know that they are doing at least one more SMALL class off this list people....so fellow 95's have hope like I do. Hopfully it will happen

Posted by: RodneyFarva

Massguy, I really hope your right i have the "deferred" dick stamp on my forhead too.....keep running! and hope for the best... see ya in the 80th.

Posted by: JLT770

Hate to burst your bubble but I wouldn't bet on it. The Legis. is not going to pony up the money.

Its funny, I've heard both stories. It'd be hard to imagine that they would do another class off this VERY OLD list. I would think that they would do another test to get a fresh list. I think that they're losing out on qualified candidates (people take others jobs and younger people haven't had a chance yet) because they test so infrequently. Ah well time will tell. I hope for the people still on the list waiting that everything works out for you guys, best of luck.

yeah i mean you 95ers could definitely take the exam again, become 98ers...so dont be so opposed to a new exam. haha

I'm sure the other 95'ers like me, that were unwillingly defferred, from the 79th, only want a chance, to finish the process, get to the academy, and become a Trooper. Just remember that some of us do not make it under the age requirement for a new test, so this is our last shot. I do feel that the people who defferred on their own accord from previous classes should be bounced altogether, so we get a chance. I did hear from a source that the 80th might happen in July 08'- from the current list. Either way, there is no new test planned, and no money for a class, so we're all in a holding pettern.

Heard the gov'ner signed a new budget yesterday. Anyone know if it contains any money for the next academy? Or was said money one of those line items that he vetoed?

It wasn't even in the recommendations back in Feb. I doubt if it came up during House and Senate versions.

Ok, this thread is getting old quick.

For those who are waiting for an exam, as mentioned in a thread previously, keep checking the Mass State Police website about once a week. The troopers on this site will know about another exam AFTER it is posted to the Mass State Police website (or about the same time. If they have prior knowledge, I doubt that they are going to/able to release that info).

For those who are waiting for another class off the old list, again, check the website and/or wait for HR to mail you something.

The "are we there yet" saying we used on our parents on long car rides doesn't work for adults.

Good response Tazoez, hopefully that puts an end to this

I was in Personel on Monday and was told by Personel they will start TALKING about another class/test in F/Y 2009 (and no, they don't know which will come first). The SP has more Troopers on the road now than ever before was the reasoning I was given. Sorry for the reality check, but when I was waiting, I would have rather known the real deal than "oh, what I heard was (insert BS here)....."

Posted by: JLT770

thank you, I will now put my dreams on hold for 2 years

Posted by: CTrain

Thanks Q5-TPR... Thats actually great news for me, I turn 21 in January of 2009
