(WBZ) BELLINGHAM A teenager was killed in a single-car crash in Bellingham Monday night.

State police say a 16-year-old was speeding on Route 495 south just before he crashed near the Exit 18 off ramp around 9:30 p.m.

The teen lost control of his 2000 Ford Focus, left the road, hit an embankment and ended up in the right travel lane.

A 16-year-old passenger in the front seat was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car and died.

The driver and two 16-year-old girls who were in the back seat were wearing seat belts. All three were treated at Milford Hospital for minor injuries.

Police did not release the names of anyone involved in the crash.

Another reason the JOL passenger restrictions should be until 18, not just the first 6 months after being licensed.

I'm talking about a JOL having passengers under 16. The article says the driver and passengers were all 16 y/o. A JOL cannot have passengers under 18 for the first 6 months after being licensed.
