Portsmouth, New Hampshire Police have had at least two contacts with Russian diplomats this week as over one-hundred delegates are in town with the visit to the area of President Vladimire Putin. Overnight authorities stopped and warned a driver near the police station who was driving without headlights. The officer reports the vehicle was bearing diplomatic plates and the operator had Russian identification and license. After a warning (in English i presume) he was sent on his way. Earlier it was reported a Russian diplomat tried to purchase booze at the New Hampshire liquor store but a $100 bill came up counterfeit when the clerk used a pen checking device. The diplomat grabbed the bill and left. Police said the Russian diplomats have diplomatic immunity and that they are expected to leave Portsmouth soon. The closest Russia embassy is in New York City. The officials were in the area as the Russian president's plane landed in Portsmouth for the Kennebunkport visit.
