CAMBRIDGE - Police are searching for witnesses to an early morning car crash that left a motorcyclist dead last week.
The motorcyclist, who police identified as 26-year-old Anadson Ducasse of Medford, was pronounced dead at the hospital at 2:09 a.m. June 26.
Witnesses told police that Ducasse was leaving from Shine nightclub in Kendall Square on his 2005 blue Suzuki motorcycle at about 1:23 a.m. June 26 when a 47-year-old Cambridge man drove through a red traffic light at the intersection of Hampshire and Portland streets and hit him.
The driver’s 1996 brown Toyota Corolla sent the motorcyclist’s body hurtling about 100 feet in air the and smashing into another car before hitting the pavement.
The police report lists the incident as a motor vehicular homicide by reckless driving, but it’s not clear whether charges will be filed against the driver in the crash. After the crash, a group surrounded the suspect’s car and took his keys, the suspect told police.
“The investigation is not over yet. We still haven’t determined who was at fault for the accident,” said police spokesman Frank Pasquarello, citing conflicting witness accounts.
