ENFIELD, CONNECTICUT (WWLP) - A domestic dispute in Enfield, CT led to the discovery of dozens of weapons and the arrest of an Enfield man who police said was on the verge of a deadly rampage.
Witnesses said the suspect, Frederick Borneman, allegedly had a gun pointed at his wife's chest. Police say Borneman had a 45-caliber handgun with one round in the chamber on him when he was arrested.
Police also recovered 40 to 50 weapons from the home and Borneman's vehicle. Police said they also recovered threatening notes written by Borneman that were addressed to family members and friends.
"The notes that he left were addressed to specific family members and certain friends and if you read those notes there was no doubt what his intent was. The notes, combined with the weaponry he had, the ammunition, certainly we adverted a tragedy," stated Chief Carl Sferrazza of the Enfield Police Department.
Police believe that Borneman also had officers in his crosshairs. Borneman faces several charges including risk of injury to a minor, possession of an assault rifle and carrying a dangerous weapon. His bond is set at $1-million.
