MSP's Taxi Cruisers

I saw on the French and Electric Blue website that in '95/'96, MSP had some yellow cruisers that were supposed to be covert and appear to be taxis. I found this rather ammusing, and was curious how many yellow cruisers they had and if the idea worked well? Thanks in advance for replies

I don't know about MA but they work well in NYC they have a number of them.

When I worked as an Auxiliary in New York City our Precent had 2 yellow cabs an Ice Cream Truck and a dark blue van that had the name and address of a fake delivery company on it.

They were used by the anti crime people all the time.

A few of those magnetic signs we could make available:

"Ugo Tujahil" taxi

"Webe Watchen Delivery"

"Daman Tsere"

Scroll down a bit, it shows the MA ones, with State Police plates and whatnot. I think it is a good idea, and a pretty funny one haha I know that personally, if I see a yellow crown vic on the roads I don't think twice about it

They actually were painted up with full "taxi" markings and covert plates. Don't really know if they worked, but there was one at the SPA when I was out there for my RTT. We just used it as a training vehicle for patrol procedures.

In the past we've just borrowed real taxis.....they obviously look authentic, and the bad guys figure out pretty quick which taxi the police are using, so it makes sense to switch it up.

A few years ago a couple of troopers would regularly park one in front of our station when they wanted to stir things up on the Southwest Corridor. They basically used it to transport their mountain bikes and would park and ride.

Yes, we still have some out there. Guess which ones.........

Q-5, one of the best responses yet! It works, enough said. Well, enough said by the real police.
