An 18-year-old driving a 1998 Subaru Forester crashed on Route 6 East around 5:45 a.m. just before exit 7 in Barnstable.

(WBZ)BARNSTABLE A teenage driver was killed and a passenger was seriously hurt in a crash on the Cape that shut down part of Route 6 for more than an hour Tuesday morning.
An 18-year-old driving a 1998 Subaru Forester crashed on Route 6 East around 5:45 a.m. just before exit 7 in Barnstable.
The teen lost control of the SUV, drove into the median and rolled over. State police say she was not wearing a seat belt and was trapped in the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
An 18-year-old passenger was wearing her seat belt and survived the crash. She was rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital on a medical helicopter and is being treated for serious injuries.
Police will not release their names until their families are notified.
