Mom was killed at home while daughter, 8, was at school
By The Patriot Ledger staff
BRAINTREE - Detectives continue to investigate the May 17 death of Michelle Durham, the Braintree mother who was killed while her 8-year-old daughter was at school.

David Traub, a spokesman for the Norfolk County district attorney’s office, said the investigation remains ‘‘ongoing and very active.’’

‘‘There are still some forensics being tested,’’ he said.

Although police arrested Durham’s former boyfriend, Reynaldo Pomare, 28, on May 18 for violating a restraining order, he has not been charged in connection with the murder.

However, Traub said Pomare is considered a ‘‘person of interest’’ in the case.

Police went to Durham’s Braintree Village apartment after Durham failed to meet her daughter after school. The state medical examiner’s office determined that Durham had been shot to death.

Durham obtained a restraining order against Pomare on April 21 after he allegedly grabbed her hair, banged her head on a floor and tried to push her head into a toilet, according to court records.

Under the restraining order, Pomare was to have no contact with Durham or her 8-year-old daughter and was to keep 100 yards from them. Boston police arrested Pomare after learning that Pomare stopped to talk to the girl’s father outside the apartment building May 2, according to court records.

The girl also told police that her mother had said Pomare had contacted her within the past four weeks, that he had brought her flowers for Mother’s Day and that he had taken her to a Stop & Shop.

Pomare’s court-appointed lawyer, Phyllis Field, argued during his arraignment last month that Durham had filed an affidavit two days before her death asking that the restraining order be dropped.
