HADLEY, MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP) - Just after school got out for the summer, a thief stole the main source of fun from an entire neighborhood full of children. It almost seems unimaginable: a thief stripped an entire Hadley street of its bicycles. Thirteen bikes in all were stolen from five different houses over the course of the last two days. Nearly every child on Burke Way in Hadley owns a bike, because the street runs parallel to the popular Norwatick Rail Trail bike path. With summer just getting underway, those Hadley children are not taking the bike heist lightly. Hadley Police Officer Michael Mason said the Burke Way bike thefts appear to be an isolated incident, with no other neighborhoods along the rail trail reporting anything out of the ordinary. For now, officials are still trying to find a suspect in the case, and welcome the public's help to locate the person.
