Pet Eating Snake Sought In Pennsylvania Neighbohood

A large snake suspected of eating several small pets has residents on edge in one Bucks County neighborhood.

Armed with flashlights, members of a Bristol, PA Township community searched high and low for the snake overnight Friday.

Bristol Township officers caught a nine-and-half foot snake Wednesday, but an even larger one is believed to be on the loose after the remains of several kittens were discovered. Officers believe the roaming reptile is either a Boa constrictor or a python.

"To have two giant snakes at the same time is unheard of, I think, unless you live in Africa," Bristol Animal Control Officer Bill Kurko said.

Two kittens, ironically named Miracle and Lucky, escaped their deaths after their owner discovered the bodies of four others in their litter.

"They decapitated it, it was disgusting," said the cat's owner Lisa Remer.

The slithery creature was spotted lurking through a Bristol Township yard several times in the past 10 days.

"It's dark gray with X’s down its back, and it is really big, the length of a car," Remer said.

Animal control officers believe the reptile is living beneath a house on Bath Street and consider it a threat to small household pets and even neighborhood children.

"I just hope they catch it soon because we have too many kids, and too many other small animals around and we don’t want any of them getting hurt," neighbor Chris Kile said.

Officials are uncertain how the snakes slithered into neighborhood, but believe at least one was a pet which escaped from a car.

Snakes are cool...until they eat all the kittens.
