OMAHA, Neb. --
An Omaha police officer was hospitalized overnight after his cruiser was hit by a vehicle driven by a man police say was drunk.
Rescue crews said they were called to the area of 90th and Burt streets just before 12:45 a.m. Thursday. The all-black cruiser had the right-of-way, but the white pickup truck struck the cruiser, forcing the vehicle into a light pole, police said.
The officer, who has not yet been identified, was transported to a hospital with cuts on his elbow and head. He was expected to be treated and released.
The pickup's driver was not injured. He was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
