Hi I am new to this site and I received a card earlier this week for the Mass DOC to appear and sign the list. Is that a good job? will it help you in the future to get onto a PD?, which is my dream. Some people have told me that its a stressful job and that PD's look at that and try to stay away from former or current CO's. Is that true? in all the states? I would like to become a police officer up here but if that doesnt work out I am looking to go to florida or California.

We have a couple of former state CO's on my job, they had no trouble with the transition. It's a tough job, make no mistake about it, because you're in prison yourself for 8+ hours per day. They've also been without a contract for something like 4 years.
That being said, it's good money, great benefits, and your pension contributions will roll over to most police departments. If I were a security guard, I'd definitely go for it (no offense, just looking at your screen name).

I just got the card. I am just wondering after graduating from the Mass Doc academy are you law enforcemnt certified? and are you able to take the academy to other states? Also i would like to hear more about if its good to take the DOC job?
