I checked Snopes it has no record of this.

Oscar Mayer/Kraft Foods

Guess I will not be eating Oscar Mayer hot dogs any more!
Recently Marines in Iraq wrote to Oscar Mayer because they wanted to let them know how much they liked their hot dogs and to request that they send some of it to the troops there.
Oscar Mayer replied, telling the Marines thank you for their support of their business, but that Oscar Mayer does not support the war, or anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops their brand of hot dogs. So as not to offend Oscar Mayer, maybe we should not support them by not buying any of their products!

As a war vet writing to fellow patriots, I feel we should get this out in the open. I know this war might not be very popular with some folks, but that doesn't mean we don't support the boys on the ground fighting street-to-street and house-to-house for what they and I believe is right. If you feel the same as I do then pass this along, or you can discard it and no one will never know.
Thanks very much for your support. I know you'll all be there again when I deploy once more.

1st Force Recon Co
1st Platoon

PLEASE DON'T DELETE THIS ... ALLOW IT TO BE PASSED TO ALL IN MEMORY OF ALL THE TROOPS WHO HAVE DIED SO THAT WE MAY HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE TO SUPPORT THEM OR NOT!!!

I've heard about this one before Harry and it is a falsehood actually. (Thankfully false I should say.)

"Oscar Mayer brand products are manufactured by Kraft Foods Inc., which, far from refusing to support U.S. troops in Iraq, supplies a wide variety of packaged foods to armed services personnel through its commissary program. The company has issued no statements critical of the war in Iraq or the U.S. troops fighting there."

Yup;

I think Oscar Meyer hot dogs are putrid, but that's based on taste and not political concerns.

I'd really like to know who starts these things, and why.

Kayem natural casing beef...or Zwiegles natural casing whitehots, pork with NO Preservatives. They are best when chosen as the meat component of a "Nick Tahou's Garbage Plate".

Google it.

Or not:

Note: If you are going to patronize the original store, bring a pocket full of change to throw, distracting the bums. Also, bring plenty of rubbers as the "ladies of the evening" will be all over you like a cheap suit!

Yes, the food is worth it.

There used to be a hole-in-the-wall hot dog place in Holyoke on Rt 5 called Nick's Nest (don't know if it is still there, I think the original owners sold it a few years back). They had the best hot dogs and baked beans I ever tasted (and I generally hate baked beans).

Anyone ever get a hot dog in Chicago? They put everything but the kitchen sink on them....pickle spear, onions, tomatoes, hot peppers, etc.

I believe that asking for ketchup on a hot dog in Chicago is a capital offense in Illinois.

Its still there. The owner retired and everyone was afraid it would be knocked down but some young guy bought it and runs it just like it always was!
