They're on the road and in service out west (WAY out west). Waiting on computers to be installed for the rest of the state...

Masstroopers; Are all State cars getting computers? Or just a select few..

Computers??? I didn't think MSP had MDTs....

Some of our cruisers still use the old Motorola MDT's but they will be gone by the end of the year. The MDT's, not the cars. Well, probably some of the cars, too. Look for two of the 800Mhz antennas on an older car, that's usually an indicator but not a guarantee that there's an MDT on board.

Word has it the new computers are to be rolled out to everyone eventually, but for now the new cruisers are being fitted with them. There were a few production delays so the first batch of new cars went out to the Berkshires & western Hampden Cty. where the high band radio infrastructure does not yet accomodate the widespread use of this particular computer network. I'd have to check but I think that cruisers are now being issued with computers in them. No word on when / if / how the older cars will be retrofitted.

Welcome to the 1990's!

I was out at MHQ yesterday and they had like 20 new MSP cruisers all ready for delivery. NHSP has 10 cars there on their way out too.

I love that place

I was actually driving by the South Boston Barracks and saw a brand new cruiser sitting out front. I wonder if the car was from W. Mass or are the newer ones coming soon?
Interesting.
