A high-speed chase through Savannah Georgia streets ended in gunfire Wednesday morning, leaving a suspected gunman wounded. The chase ended at Waters Avenue and Bolton Street about 3am when the men police were chasing hit a sign.
Two men jumped out and one of them fired his gun at Metro Officer Chris Talley, who returned fire from his police car.
Officer Talley was not injured.
Police caught up with the wounded suspect at Ott and Bolton, where they put him into an ambulance and had him rushed to Memorial Health.
A preliminary investigation is underway to determine whether the suspect was already wounded or struck by police gunfire.
Meanwhile, other officers surrounded a community center where they thought the other suspect may have been hiding.
Police say the chase started about 3am Wednesday morning at Montgomery and DeRenne, where people in two different cars exchanged gunfire. Police closed off that area and a square block area at Waters and Bolton while they continue the investigation.
They're still searching for the other suspect. They did find one gun in the wrecked car.
